EB's Bar-B-Que is located in Charlotte, NC. The team was established in 1997 after Earl and Brian cooked for Brian's Dad's church. Earl and C.J. (Brian's Dad) were friends for 50 years. Earl has cooked for years , starting in the Navy and continued after his discharge. C.J. knew Brian cooked and loved to do so. So, C.J. made the suggestion that Brian help Earl with the church event. After having worked with Brian, Earl made the comment that he had never had anyone who knew what to do without him telling them what to do. They have been cooking ever since.

In 1996 after Earl was leaving his part-time job at SAM's he noticed something going on at the Shriner's club next door. Earl wandered on over to check it out. There was a BBQ cookoff taking place. We were invited to join the competition, but felt it was too late to do so, and declined. However, the next year, Earl and Brian decided to compete. During this time, there had been discussions of opening a BBQ restaurant, and what would we name it. Since most BBQ places are named after the man who owned it, this presented a question. How were we going to name it after the 2 of them. The name was derived by taken the E from Earl and the B from Brian to form EB's.

Brian's wife Candy first became involved after visiting a few BBQ sites which was recommended by others. Since she is the PC person on the team, she found herself reading BBQ mail lists and looking up BBQ related web sites. Finally, she started going to competitions in the fall of 1999. And the team has been rolling ever since!

Our neighbor Bob is becoming more involved with the team and is a tremendous help. He attended his first cookoff in April (2001) at King's Mtn.  Bob is the youngest member of the team and we hope to be priming him for chief cook one day.
