We have judged this contest every year.....5. Always look forward to our Christmas ornaments, and they are red this year! Had some really good entries this weekend. 4 of the 6 entries in chicken were legs. And then there is always the pig cupcakes.
Always hot in Greenwood. Must have been a bunch of new teams this year and I think they all landed on our table. First time I have ever left judging a bbq contest and still been hungry. They didn't have any cotton tshirts this year, had the polyester ones......yuck! dis get a cool shirt from a local company. Southern Swine apparel Co.
What a nasty weekend! it rained for several days prior. started raining Friday morning and we had a couple really heavy downpours. Luckily we were not on the main field but in a gravel lot. Still glad I had my rain boots. The scoring seemed to be way off for everybody. Not sure if it is the effect of the new judge seating or what! Although the big meats still scored higher wasn't able to place this year.
Saturday, the field was a complete disaster. It looked and smelled like a pig pen. I don't know how anyone sat out there and listened to the music. The mud was deep it was like quicksand. It wold almost suck your boots off!
Another fantastic contest! One of our favorites. Big meat scores are up but not far enough to place. We did take 1st in People's Choice. Pig races were added to the fun this year. I love pig races! And of courser the fireworks are always great. Oh, love the Jiggy glasses!
Nice weekend weather wise. Places 5th in chicken, and after attending a cooking class over the winter finally a 9th place in brisket.
Second year for this contest and moved to the Cabarrus County arena. Great location.
It was sunny and cold! We managed a 3rd in chicken. Love these trophies. Brain calls it the angry bird!
Another great contest by Gary and Tilly's. The weather was perfect, not hot, nice breeze and no rain. We won People's Choice again for the 2nd year in a row. Placed 7th in chicken. Scores were pretty close, while the ribs scored well didn't place in the money. Thanks to our sponsor Royal Oak.
